Do you know my doctor, Jesus?
Recently I had cataract surgery for a lens to be placed in my eye to correct blurriness. As I was waiting to be moved into the operating room, I remembered what a hotel maid said to me earlier this year because I needed my linen changed. I told her I’m allergic to feathers now. She Can you give a little more context for the conversation? Just another sentence or so. I understand the connection—was she suggesting God would heal your allergy or was she making a statement about his power? asked me…”Do you know my doctor Jesus?”
I started thinking about all the things that have happened in my life where I needed clear vision. Who could I turn to for advice? Who could I trust with my problems? There is only one who is there 24/7. There are no full waiting rooms. No long holds on the phone waiting for someone on the other end to talk to. No worry about do I have enough money to cover the co-pay. Nor do I have to struggle opening the child-proof bottle cap or take a swallow of some liquid. All I need is my doctor, JESUS! Whatever my pain, doubt, worry, stress or confusion, my doctor JESUS is there for my call.
What did JESUS give me that caused a smile on my face as I was being wheeled into the operating room, even though I signed a I just edited out an extra ‘a’ typo waiver acknowledging that I might lose my eye or eye socket? What did JESUS give me when I was told my position at work was terminated and I walked out of the building smiling because I wasn’t angry or hurt? What does JESUS give me so I don’t worry when I see my bank balance getting low? This is what my doctor JESUS gives me:
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
PEACE I like how this doesn’t mean you’ll escape from your circumstances. Instead, he is with you in the midst of them!
So…the next time you are in pain, stressed, fearful, angry, in doubt, confused or conflicted, call on my doctor JESUS first. He’s available day or night, Sunday through Saturday, always open for your call. If you want me to introduce you to HIM, I’m more than happy to do so at any time. JESUS is the medicine for your pain, the relief you need. Call HIM! Beautiful ending, an invitation!
